Oral Cancer, Precancer, and Differential Diagnosis of Common Oral Mucosal Conditions
Speaker: John M. Wright, DDS, MS

Oral cancer is one of the few oral conditions that is fatal and causes appreciable morbidity. Therapeutic intervention in the early stages provides patients their greatest chance to survive. The course emphasizes clinical relevance by illustrating and discussing clinical changes which may represent early malignant or premalignant lesions. You will learn differential diagnosis by illustrating other pathologic conditions that share clinical features with cancerous and precancerous lesions. With a better understanding of the disease and the ability to recognize early lesions, dental health care providers will be in a unique position within the health professions to decrease significantly the mortality and morbidity of oral cancer.
